ACTIVITIES OF REGIONAL STAKEHOLDERS DURING THE PUBLIC DISCUSSION OF THE LAW ON THE DEVELOPMENTAL RESTRUCTURING OF THE SAŠA REGION

The SAŠA Development Agency, in cooperation with regional authorities, stakeholders, and local communities, is planning numerous activities during the public debate on the Act on the Development Restructuring of the SAŠA Region to support the dissemination of information about the content of the act to the wider public.

Discussion on economic opportunities and needs

In cooperation with the mayors of the municipalities of the SAŠA region, the Savinja-Šaleška Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Mozirje Regional Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship, and the Velenje Regional Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship, the agency is organising for all companies in the SAŠA region on Monday, 18 August 2025, a discussion on the opportunities and needs of the SAŠA region’s economy, which will include a presentation of the draft Act on the Development Restructuring of the Savinjsko-Šaleška Region and the starting points of the programme of the Act prepared at the regional level, as well as a discussion led by the President of the SAŠA Region’s Regional Development Council, Peter Dermol.

Joint meeting of regional bodies

On Tuesday, 19 August 2025, there will be a joint meeting of the members of the Regional Development Council, the Council of Mayors of the SAŠA Region, the Regional Working Group for the Preparation of Guidelines for the Act on the Development Restructuring of the SAŠA Region, and the Committees for the Preparation of the SAŠA Regional Development Programme 2021-2027. The meeting will also include a presentation of the draft Act on the Developmental Restructuring of the Savinjsko-Šaleška Region and the starting points for the act, prepared at the regional level, and a discussion on the opportunities and needs of the SAŠA region.

Joint extraordinary meeting of municipal councils

On Thursday, 21 August 2025, a joint extraordinary meeting of the municipal councils of the municipalities of Velenje and Šoštanj will be held in Velenje, to which representatives of the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of the Economy, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy, the Ministry of Solidarity and the Future, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Savinjsko-Šaleška Region Development Agency with the SAŠA Centre for Just Transition, the Savinjsko-Šaleška Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the SAŠA Incubator, the Velenje Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship, and the Velenje Coal Mine Trade Union. Both municipalities want to be kept informed of all information and decisions, so they want representatives to present the content of the act with an emphasis on the part that relates to their respective sector or responsibilities.

The SAŠA Development Agency is already preparing the basis for a set of measures for the draft Act, and has prepared an anonymous questionnaire for initiatives and opinions from the general public.Information on activities will also be published regularly on the website of the SAŠA Centre for Just Transition platform and in local media.

Proposals for amendments to the Act on the Development Restructuring may be submitted by any individual until 8. 25 May 2025 via the E-demokracija portal.
