The SAŠA Development Agency, in cooperation with the Municipality of Velenje, invites you to the generational forum:
“A Secure Future for Miners – How Can It Be Ensured?”
which will take place on Thursday, 15 May 2025, at 5 p.m. at Villa Bianca (Stari trg 11, Velenje).
This year, we are celebrating 150 years of coal mining in the Šaleška Valley, while at the same time facing increasingly intense challenges of the just transition due to the closing of the Velenje Coal Mine.
The adoption of the act on transitional financing for an accelerated and just transition away from coal has raised numerous questions and feelings of uncertainty and concern among employees in the coal mining industry.
The purpose of the forum is to:
present measures taken by the state to support employees and the region during the restructuring period,
seek solutions for preserving jobs,
ensure social security for employees,
open a public discussion and provide clear answers to employees and the wider community.
The forum will also be attended by ministers from the relevant ministries who are implementing or planning measures to support the region.
The event will be an excellent opportunity for direct dialogue, asking questions, and co-creating future solutions.
