A subpage about the transformation of the district heating system in the Šaleška Valley has been launched.

The Savinjsko-Šaleška Region Development Agency (RA SAŠA), under whose auspices the Just Transition Centre and the Velenje Public Utility Company operate, provides you with all the information in one place regarding the latest developments, the renovation of the district heating system, and the green energy resulting from the phase-out of coal.

This is an upgrade of a broader information campaign, through which we are informing the citizens of Šoštanj and Velenje about the process of transforming the system and providing a wealth of information in one place. We have already published an information leaflet and brochure, which have been distributed to all households in both municipalities and are also available online. Due to the European Union’s policy of phasing out coal mining, a new source of heating will need to be secured in the Šaleška Valley after 2033. The website primarily answers key questions, such as how the transition will take place, what changes it will bring, and, last but not least, how households will have to adapt to it. It provides information about the activities of the individual phases of the project and their implementation, the reasons why it is important to maintain a unified district heating system, and the contact details of all advisory offices: energy offices, Ekosklad, administrators, and others. We will upgrade the page, add current information, and links to professional articles and reports on events related to the transformation. On the subpage, you can find a contact form for submitting questions and suggestions. The subpage is published on the website of the Velenje Public Utility Company and the website of the Just Transition Centre.
